What is fantasy football?

A really simplified explanation is people pick teams to 'play' against each other and using some sort of odds-based system, the teams win or lose and make it to 'finals' and then eventually a fantasy Superbowl of sorts. It's like people who use Fafarazzi their fantasy America's Next Top Model team or their fantasy Project Runway team.

I'm still confused...is it kind of like an early version of an RPG but with multiple football players controlled by each person?

EDIT: That is to say, the outcome is governed by external events, but each person has one team. Or something like that.

It's not an RPG. It's like this, basically. I say I own the Jets. You say you own the Ravens. We have other people who say they own this team and that team and so on. Whenever the team we 'own' wins a game, we get points. The person whose team eventually wins the Superbowl 'wins'. I don't know, I've never played, but guys find it fun, I guess.

Right, that's what I mean. I understand now. I still find it excruciatingly pointless, but I've never been a professional sports aficionado, so the only way I can sympathize is by understanding that it is somewhat like being part of a fandom, and every fandom has its own ideosyncratic games and traditions...

I miss you, too. My life is separating me from people right now, and I know I'm falling out of touch, but can't help it. Obviously my spring trip has been forced to be postponed, and for that I am truly regretful. But at least it'll give you a chance to catch up on your sleep, and for your foot to heal more fully ♥

It's okay. I can barely update LJ. It seems like such a huge, labourous task, which I know sounds silly, but I feel like 'Omigod, I cannot.' I filtered my friend's list to the bare minimum and barely comment. I cannot sleep all the time and my goddamn foot is infected again! (After a 10 day bout of the stomach flu, which did not leave me at my ideal weight, dammit.)

So, you need to come up later this year, then. Maybe in June or July or August or whatever. :)

I WILL CALL YOU! But I don't know when will be a good time to meet in the near future. My exams start next week, so from here until May 9 I'm going to be primarily MIA. I am always open to meeting for coffee, but since it's probably a long drive for you, you'd probably feel such a trip merited a longer stay. In any event, we will work something out.

Don't worry about it, I realize everyone's crazy busy with school right now. NOT LIKE I'VE NEVER BEEN THERE or anything. Actually the distance doesn't worry me so much as how I can even get up there, this would be so much easier if you were Metro accessible! :D But we can WORK THIS OUT. I BELIEVE IN US.

Last night Sarah and I went walking in a magical rainstorm and expected to see the catbus but it never arrived. I expect that this is your doing. Your failure to be knowledgable about fantasy football leagues is ruining EVERYTHING.
